Resident Manager - Brampton
The year is 2008, and Phillip is living at CAPREIT's Brampton Village. He's making a name for himself by getting actively involved in the tenant community. The positive impact he has on those surrounding him reaches so far that the senior management for Brampton Village catches wind of his contributions. When they learn also that Phillip is job hunting, he is hand-picked by upper management to apply for the role of Resident Manager.
Over the 8 years since joining his CAPREIT team, Phillip never hesitates to go the extra mile. He takes time out of his schedule to personally secure supplies for tenant events, and leverages his expertise in construction to perform and coordinate in-suite maintenance for the residents of Brampton Village which is no simple task. CAPREIT's Brampton Village is a multi-site residence, which means it's large enough to have several addresses and many residents.
With so much to oversee, doing quality work in a prompt manner can be tricky to coordinate. Add to that some unexpected disasters - like untimely drainage back-ups, flooding and water outages - and you have a real challenge.
Phillip more than rises to the challenge
It's December of 2013 and the infamous Ontario ice storm is causing significant damage to the Brampton Village grounds. Phillip makes sure he is early on-site to anything he can to help. He shovels and salts the grounds and continues to battle the ice over the many days - and goes out of his way to personally help countless residents safely reach their cars and bus stops.
Later, on three separate occasions in 2014, Brampton Village faces unscheduled water outages due to a broken city line. When this happens, Phillip's first thought is about his hundreds of residents who are trying to get ready for school and work without access to running water. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, he drives to the nearest 24-hour shop, and picks up bottles of water which he then delivers door to door to his residents.
On another occasion, a burst pipe causes flooding across numerous suites. But Phillip's expertise in maintenance and construction makes him indispensable
he's not only able to ease residents' frustrations and anxieties, but he also handles nearly all of the sanitization and repairs.
That night he worked overtime to get his resident's suites spic and span, right up to midnight on his birthday. Though he arrived a little more than fashionably late to his own party, his guests were more than understanding, as many of them live at Brampton Village!
Through his exceptional work and support of community initiatives, an understanding is developed: that Phillip is more than simply a Resident Manager. He is a caring community member who is motivated to bring a high standard of living to his neighbours. His award-winning customer service, cool crisis management, and round-the-clock dedication make Phillip one of CAPREIT's finest team members.
