Turning Abandoned Bikes into Charity
Harbourview Terrace Apartments in Vancouver
, Edward, Operations Manager - Vancouver - noticed a number of abandoned bikes at thebike rack in the parking lot. In an effort to clean it up, Edward, conducted an intensive audit of the bikes over the course of a few weeks. What he found at the end of the audit was that ten bikes had in fact been abandoned. Of those bikes, five were in good condition and the other five were to be scrapped.
With the help of a mobile site administrator from
International Plaza Apartments
, Edward contacted a local used sports equipment store and sold the five bikes that were in good condition for $100. Edward then donated the $100 to the
Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
under the name of CAPREIT.
Moving forward, Edward will run this program annually across all downtown Vancouver buildings. We're proud of Edward's creative thinking and excited to see this charitable campaign grow throughout the future!
